The Foundation - history and purpose.

Our's is a culture of change. That is, of course, true of all cultures at all times to some degree or the other. As we learn about the world around us, the terms we use to speak about it are modified, usually at an imperceptible level over extended periods of time. However, our culture (western, specifically American, though the same thing could be said of others in the neighborhood) appears to able, with no detrimental effects (or none that we care to talk about), to redefine our culture, and in fact our reality, in almost any terms whatever. It appears that as a species we have evolved to the level of being able to supercede truth itself!

And of course, it appears to be a very lucrative business, being God. Government agencies and public service groups absolutely throw money, press time - hey, whatever's on hand, in the direction of anyone that stands up and says "The World ain't what you think it is!" Tax money floods projects investigating whether a planet is a planet, whether men are men, whether the Holocaust really took place (though use of thet word 'really' is unfortunate, being detrimental to this whole business by implying some sort of objective reality) and all kinds of other things that you thought you already knew.

It was during discussion of similar topics that I and my distinguished colleague, Dr. C. Furman, determined that, as this kind of activity obviously is of high importance and as a side consideration also seems to be excessively lucrative, there exists a need for a central body which can determine for one and all what reality (or whatever you want to call it - we'll rule on that later) should look like. We are that body. We determine your world. Please send money.
